This certificate course on Life Skills Development helps participants to gain insights into themselves, identify their potential and limitations, explore pathways to reach goals, make informed decisions, cope with situations, embrace social cohesion, and unearth their potential for productive life outcomes by imbibing and practicing life skills.

The course will be conducted online using experiential methodology in delivery and content for an enriching program.

  • 1) Date of commencement date of the online course: 16th April 2025
  • Course duration: From 16 April 2025 to 14 June 2025
  • Total No. of Hours =45; Credits=3
  • 2) Each class’s duration is 1 hour 15 minutes and will be conducted in ONLINE mode
  • 3) Classes will be held twice a week.
  • Weekday: THURSDAY Time: 6:00 -7:15pm (IST), followed by 15 minutes participant interactions
  • Weekend: SATURDAY Time: 6:00 -7:15pm (IST), followed by 15 minutes participant interactions
  • 4) The participants who are interested in the course, need to pay ONLY the registration fee of 10$. Note: The amount can be made in Indian currency also.
  • 5) English will be the language of the online life skills development course.

UNIT 1: INTRODUCTION TO LIFE SKILLS (4hrs. This includes Introduction to the Course, meet and greet session)

  • Setting the Context: Orientation to skills, life skills, personality development and leadership
  • Perspective Building: Theoretical Underpinnings of Life Skills Education, National and International trajectory
  • Exploring the concept of life skills and their relevance in education in the light of NEP 2020

UNIT 2: CORE LIFE SKILLS: SOCIAL SKILLS (7 ½ hrs)

  • Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Awareness
  • Techniques for self-evaluation: SWOT and Jo-Hari window
  • Connecting to others through empathetic understanding
  • Effective Communication: Clarity, confidence, and impact in personal and professional contexts
  • Interpersonal relationships and dynamics for fostering positive connections

UNIT 3: CORE LIFE SKILLS: THINKING SKILLS (6hrs)

  • Critical Thinking for understanding and responding to complexity
  • Creative thinking for fostering innovation
  • Dealing with problems: how to face and overcome them?
  • Making informed decisions

UNIT 4: SELF MANAGEMENT (4 ½ hrs)

  • Understanding feelings, emotions of self and others; self-regulation
  • Coping with stress; Stress mitigation: Strategies and practice
  • Time Management: Mastering your day
  • Setting goals and creating pathways to reach them
  • UNIT 5: LIFE SKILLS IN PRACTICE (23 hrs.) [6 hours class + 17 hours practicum]

    • Delineating the Need for and Importance of Life Skills (Group work and presentation)
    • Applying life skills: Problem Specific and Area Specific, Addressing the holistic needs of students (Group work and presentation)
    • Life skills and responsible citizenship (Group work and presentation)
    • Reflection and Group Work on -Case Study Analysis / Presentation on a core life skill as group work for assessment.
    • -Personal and Professional Growth (Assessment) Self-assessment/presentation of My Life Skills Journey/Choosing a complex challenge and sharing reflection on how u used/plan to use the life skills learnt to address it?
    • Group Presentation on Life skills imbibed and enhanced (Assessment)
    • Watching a film and analyzing one character for life skills – (E.g., Three Idiots – Analyzing the director/Rancho)
    • Unit 1 to 4= 22 hours

      Unit 5= 23 hours (Theory and Practicum) [6 hours of class + 17 hours practicum

      (Group work,presentation, film review, action plan and group discussion)

      Total = 45 hours
