Dr. Radha Krishna Nair

Dr. A. Radhakrishnan Nair is an experienced administrator of higher education institutions & social development sector; senior faculty in life skills education; a master trainer in life skills, employability, adolescent and youth development; and a social researcher. Dr. Nair started his career as a District Youth Coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and later worked in the capacity of Deputy Director at Delhi and Zonal Director in Kerala. During his career, he worked as Faculty Head of the Adolescent health and development division and Head of the Department of Life Skills Education and Social Harmony at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, TN. He worked as a member of the Executive Committee and Academic Council of RGNIYD and Chairman of the Board of Studies. Later Dr. Nair worked as Registrar of the Central University of Kerala. He was the Founding President of the Indian Association of Life Skills Education- an association of professionals working in the field of life skills in the country. He was the Managing Editor of the International Journal of Life Skills Education. He has worked as an Expert Consultant at CIPET, Chennai to prepare a DPR and draft Act to convert the institute into an Institution of National Importance. At present Dr. Nair is the Visiting Professor of Assam Don Bosco University and Dr. Nair is the Managing Editor of the Journal for Social Empowerment published by Sri Vidyadhiraja International Study and Research Centre at Thiruvananthapuram. He has successfully guided Ph. D scholars in life skills education during his tenure at RGNIYD and at Assam Don Bosco University. An ardent researcher in life skills education, Dr. Nair was the team leader which developed a standardized scale to assess life skills among adolescents and youth. He has published several articles in national and international journals on the themes of life skills, adolescents, youths, and tribal issues. He has edited and published several books, contributed chapters to several books, and also authored books. He is one of the leading consultants in the subject of life skills education, adolescent, and youth development in the country. Another sterling contribution of Dr. Nair was the preparation of training manuals and modules for training adolescents, youths, and tribal youths. Some of the training manuals developed by him are Training Teachers as Career Guides, Facilitators Manual in Training Youth in Social Harmony and National Unity, Enhancing Life Skills of Adolescents, Training Tribal Youth as Social Animators, Training Manual on Social Harmony and Human Rights, Handbook on Teens Clubs, Peer Education, Parenting Adolescents, Citizenship and Life Skills, Training in Life Skills through Story Telling: Panchatantra Stories, and Youth Club Manual. Recently published books edited by him are Life Skills Ready Reckoner, Essays on Women Empowerment, Bibliography of Life Skills and Related Subjects, and Handbook on Community Service Learning for Life Skills and Competencies.
