About
Acharya Rajendra Joshi is an accomplished Indian classical musician, sitarist, vocalist, tabla practitioner, spiritual thinker, and yoga and meditation teacher. He also serves as a Global Ambassador, representing International Hindu University (IHU-USA), contributing to the promotion of Indian cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and spiritual values on a global platform.
Born in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, Acharya Joshi comes from a family with a rich, multigenerational tradition of Indian classical music and spirituality. Inspired by his father, Shri Parmanand Joshi, and grandfather, Pandit Shivnarayan Joshi, both respected musicians and teachers, he developed a deep connection with music and spiritual learning from an early age.
He pursued higher education in Music and Sanskrit at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, where he earned three Gold Medals. His musical journey has also been shaped by the Guru–Shishya tradition through his association as a disciple of the revered maestro Padma Shri Pandit Rajan Sajan Mishra.
Acharya Joshi has performed extensively across India and internationally, representing Indian classical music at platforms including the World Religious Conference in the United States. His notable engagements include a solo sitar performance at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, in 2023, and a performance at the National Sanskrit Festival in Deshnok.
Beyond his musical accomplishments, he is deeply committed to education and social service. He has conducted more than 300 free music workshops for underprivileged students in government schools across Rajasthan, reaching approximately 50,000 students through music education. His efforts reflect his belief that cultural education should be accessible to all, regardless of economic circumstances.
His wider areas of interest include astrology, Shrimad Bhagavata Katha, yoga, meditation, and Indian philosophy. He views music and spirituality as interconnected paths toward inner harmony, greater sensitivity, and the evolution of human consciousness.
Acharya Joshi is also devoted to the protection and care of voiceless animals, particularly in Bikaner, where he has dedicated years of personal effort and resources to their welfare. His philosophy emphasizes compassion, environmental responsibility, positivity, and the interconnectedness of all living beings.
As a Global Ambassador representing IHU-USA, he brings together his experience in Indian classical music, spiritual traditions, and cultural education to support the university's broader mission of advancing Indian heritage, Sanatana Dharma, and traditional knowledge worldwide.
His guiding philosophy is to let music awaken sensitivity, spirituality deepen consciousness, and compassionate service contribute to the welfare of all living beings.
